Have you ever wondered about the truth
About how it doesn’t even seem that smooth
The fact that it’s rough
Not to mention tough.
Have you ever wondered about lies
And how they come with such momentary highs
Sort of like a disguise, it hides
It hides behind fake smiles and hides with it piles.
You see lying is a skill
A Martial Arts even
With it comes a license to kill
Even the closest of brethren.
The strangest thing about lying
Is that it all seems to come so natural
Almost as though its implying
That the very act itself is admirable.
You see lies have the power to sedate
To wow and impress
And did I mention captivate?
All while doing nothing to clear up the actual mess.
The truth, however, will always set you free
Even if it does hurt a little
It almost makes you wonder why from it we often flee
Maybe because we are all so brittle.
Finally, they say if you’ve been gifted with silence
Then you’ve been gifted with wisdom
For with it comes balance
Between captivity and freedom.
